Water jacket side plate repair kit (for repair of two bolt holes)
This all-stainless kit is a good alternative to installing repair bushings while the engine is installed in the boat. It is easy to install, even in holes in which threads are completely stripped. The kit is designed to be installed in two adjacent holes so that the back plate will keep the stainless studs nice and straight. The studs have small tapered collars which seat into the outside surface of the block as they pull the stainless plate against the inside of the rectangular opening.
A tube of J.B. Weld is included with one of your kits to assist in sealing the studs, and securing the stainless back plate. In addition to providing a very stable base for the back plate, liberal use of the Cold Weld will provide an electrical barrier between the stainless back plate and the cast iron of the block, thereby eliminating any reasonable danger of galvanic action between the two metals.
To repair all eight bolt holes, you will need to order 4 of these kits.
